Style Post: Color Blocking

 Hoop Earrings by H&M
Necklace by Forever 21
Sweater by Victoria Secret
Tank by Vince via Rebel
Jeans by AG via Rebel
Sandals by (surprise, surprise) Sam Edelman, gift
Clutch, stole from my Momma

I was unsure of spring's latest trend of color blocking. I think like most women I tend to stick with the basics: black, white, and recently gray. If I am feeling specially adventurous I will wear navy blue. But after working at Modern Romance for almost 2 months and the constant exposure to Michael Stars tees in every conceivable color I was ready to try the trend. My top and sweater are older pieces I have had for awhile, but I figured what better way to try the trend than with items I already have. I added rock'n'roll shoes and a statement necklace to complete the look. I felt so bright and colorful in this outfit I am ready to embrace the color blocking trend with full gusto!

Momma's Day

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith because you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion

I know some people think Celine is cheesy but I love this song, full disclosure. I think of my Momma every time I hear it. For Mother's Day we took her to her favorite place to eat in Escondido for breakfast. It is called A Delight of France but we know it as the French Bakery. They have amazing salads and paninis but we enjoyed eggs Benedict and french toast. Momma loved it. It was such a nice way to celebrate her. I snapped a few pics of the place and a sidewalk in downtown Escondido from our morning. I love you Momma!
How cute is Momma in her Michael Stars Dolman and Sam Edelman shoes!?
These little swan tarts were so cute, I was dying to try one but could not eat another bite!

Style Post: Shedding the Layers

Hat via The Mad Hatter (in Palm Springs)
Sunglasses by Ray-Bans
Tank by Martin + Osa, gift
Lace Bandeau via Ebay
Shorts by Prvcy via Rebel
Sandals by Sam Edelman via Nordstrom (I know I have a serious problem with Sam Edelman)

Living so close to the beach Bobby and I try to take full advantage of all it has to offer. Whenever we get a chance we take a morning walk down to the pier to enjoy a coffee and watch the local surfers. This last week was so wonderfully warm (it reach over 85 in SB!) I was able to throw on a tank, shorts, and sandals for our early morning walk. Sometimes I like my outfits best when I don't think about them. I try to keep it simple and comfortable, which was a lot harder to do when it was freezing out! I'm definitely ready to shed the layers and enjoy the warm weather of summer.

Style Post: I want to be Dagny Taggart

Top by Free People, gift
Linen Pants by Joie via Nordstrom Rack
Sandals by Sam Edelman via Nordstrom Rack
Sunnies by Free People via Free People Store
Earrings by Leah Sakellarides, gifted from designer
Wrap Bracelet by Gorjana via Saffron Boutique
Saints Bracelets via Architectural Relics

If you don't know who Dagny Taggart is, FIND OUT! So I had 5 other outfits for my train ride south for Sister's birthday. On the day of, none of them worked out. Except for this one. It was a warm beautiful day and I just wanted to be comfortable in color. Thus this top and white linen pants. In hindsight I don't know if this is my best style post. But the goal of this blog is not to give an image of who I want to be but who I am, to be authentically me. That includes less than blog worthy outfits. When I looked at the photos I felt like my shoes looked goofy with the pants and maybe the top was too "blousey" with the pants. But I didn't want to wear jeans and couldn't find a skirt or dress that I wanted to wear!. C'est la vie! I enjoyed my train ride regardless. ;-)

Style Post: Lazy Saturday

 Top by Vince via Rebel
Tank by J. Crew via J.Crew Outlet
Jeans by AG via Rebel
Shoes by Sam Edelman via Nordstrom Rack
Necklace by Relics, gifted

Lazy Saturday and Girls Night should be the real title, but it seemed not quite as succinct. Last Saturday after the Seal Beach Run (Husband ran the 5K and got 5th in his age group!) we were both tired and lazy for obvious reasons. ;-) We got lunch, ran some errands, and then headed to a friend's place in downtown Long Beach. Bobby off to play poker with the boys and me to drink wine and laugh with the girls. The day called for something comfortable yet put together. Although this Vince circle top doesn't photograph as it should, I always feel stylish in its unusual shape and soft jersey. Here's to more girls nights and comfortable clothes!
