A Change of Season

Although we don't see the typical four seasons here in southern California, I think we all look forward to fall fashions regardless. Just another reason to dress up. As it slowly starts to cool down I've been pining like crazy in Pinterest all my fall inspirations. Here are a few things I am currently craving.

Back to blogging and back from Big Sur

Wow, where have I been? I'll tell you. Starting a little bloggity blog for work. A little thing called www.modernshopgirl.com has eaten up all my creativity and time. But now that things have finally mellowed out, I'm back in the saddle. Summer is over. To prove it here are some pics from our last vacation of the season.
Husband and I cruised up to beautiful Big Sur with one of our favorite couples, Brett and Cara. We had 4 relaxing days of exploring, hiking, sunsets, and good talks around the campfire. It was truly unforgettable and a great way to say good bye to summer.

Ready to go...

Finally back to my blog after 2 busy weeks! With all the busy-ness, it has left me dreaming of vacation. A REAL vacation. As hubs and I plan our dream vacations to Greece, Tahiti (we went for our honeymoon but want to go back), and Italy; I can't help but reminisce about the summer I spent in Paris. I went to study fashion and had the most amazing time. Bastille day fireworks at the Eiffel tower, a quick trip to Nice for some sun, eating outside with Notre Dame in full view; I am so blessed to have had those experiences. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip.

Encinitas Triathlon May 15, 2011

Beautiful Moonlight Beach

Doesn't he look so cute in his wetsuit?

 Husband completed another triathlon!! This one was an ocean swim too. It was a chilly Sunday morning when we headed out to Encinitas, a darling coastal town of San Diego County.The tri was at Moonlight Beach, my Dad used to take my sister and I to that beach in the summer. It brought back a lot of good memories. Bobby's heat took off at 8:06 with an ocean swim, then bike ride, and finally run to the finish line. I had so much fun watching and cheering him on. When the race was done we waited around to see where he placed, he finished 1st in his age group and 8th overall! I am one proud wifey.

Clutch, stole from my Momma

I was unsure of spring's latest trend of color blocking. I think like most women I tend to stick with the basics: black, white, and recently gray. If I am feeling specially adventurous I will wear navy blue. But after working at Modern Romance for almost 2 months and the constant exposure to Michael Stars tees in every conceivable color I was ready to try the trend. My top and sweater are older pieces I have had for awhile, but I figured what better way to try the trend than with items I already have. I added rock'n'roll shoes and a statement necklace to complete the look. I felt so bright and colorful in this outfit I am ready to embrace the color blocking trend with full gusto!

I know some people think Celine is cheesy but I love this song, full disclosure. I think of my Momma every time I hear it. For Mother's Day we took her to her favorite place to eat in Escondido for breakfast. It is called A Delight of France but we know it as the French Bakery. They have amazing salads and paninis but we enjoyed eggs Benedict and french toast. Momma loved it. It was such a nice way to celebrate her. I snapped a few pics of the place and a sidewalk in downtown Escondido from our morning. I love you Momma!
