Yay, a style post! These are the most fun to do, but I am also the most nervous to do them. It is scary putting your personal style out there for all the world to see. I literally mean all the world, someone from Malaysia checked out my blog, hello Malaysia! Anyways, rain and Kate Spade rain boots make a good combo. I think because we don't get much rain here in So Cal it makes it very exciting when it does. I got these beauties for Christmas (thank you Santa) and could hardly wait to wear them. Aside from the darling bows and pink lining they are extremely comfortable. Here's to comfort and staying dry!

An Addendum

"A thing to be added; an addition." Welcome to my addendum to the Seal Beach Studio!! I think it might always be a work in progress, constantly adding and subtracting. But I have some funsie additions to show you all! The best one is yet to come, unfortunately it is stuck somewhere between eBay and UPS. :-( But let's not dwell on the negative. Check it.

I first discovered this via 9 By Design, a design show on Bravo. They added it to an office. I was freaking out and my Momma informed me that it is vodka by Dan Aykroyd. Although I am not a big vodka drinker, I love the size and funky cork of this crystal bottle.

It is such a nice addition to my shelf. I am trying to restrain myself and not put TONS of knick knacks up there, but there are so many things I love to show off!

He is right above the entrance to the galley kitchen, very Pirates of the Caribbean. Enter if you dare!

Please ignore that little plaster chip by his right ear. A little DIY disaster and part of living with these odd cardboard tiles for walls. This beauty was given to me by my Momma for Christmas. She said she almost didn't give it to me because of what happened to my Turner Baby . But I'm glad she did, he gives me a smile every time I see this bottle opener.

This little cubby area is quickly becoming a mini bar. I just need to find a new place for my pink mixer. Decisions, decisions!

OK, 2 things in this pic. To the left, my pretty french tile hook. It was given to me by Sandy Maxwell (Hi Sandy!) at my bridal shower. It was actually a set of 3 but I have no where to put the other 2, so I picked my favorite one to put up with my apron. To the left is a metal wine bottle that houses corks. It was a Christmas gift from my Sissy (Hi Kimmy!) and her hubs, Zac. I LOVE it and as soon as I move that mixer it is taking its rightful place in the mini bar!

So with wainscoting it is difficult to have a headboard. We actually don't have a proper bed, just risers under the box spring, but it works. I have felt for a while that the bed looked a little bare. I didn't want to go the frou frou pillow route, so Momma suggested white European shams. PRESTO! Clean, simple and easy to make the bed.

I saved the best for last. EAMES HANG IT ALL COAT RACK!!! The holy grail of MCM coat racks! But you are not using it for coats you say! I wanted to show off its colorful brilliance, so I decided to use it for my jewelry. Although I like having my jewelry easily accessible and enjoying the modern colorfulness of the rack, I think it might be too busy. Thoughts?

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

 Changes have been made to the Seal Beach Studio! I thought I would share them with you all, specifically Aunt Kandee! Hi Aunt Kandee! ;-) I have added some more storage, a couple little decorator items, and added more to the bathroom. We finally have some storage in there. Hubs and I are really starting to enjoy our little studio. Life is simple and clean up is easy, what more could you ask for? Although I still have had trouble fitting my clothes into the miniature wardrobe. Enjoy the before and afters!

Beaver Creek or Bust

Goodbye San Diego...

  So, let's talk, or rather let me talk to you. I was born and raised in California. I am a California girl through and through. I went snowboarding a couple of times in high school and college, wasn't for me. I am NOT a snow bunny. So for the last 5 or 6 years my hubs takes a boys trip to Colorado for some real snowboarding. This year, for his birthday he wanted me to come. I reluctantly complied not knowing what I was getting into. We went with our good friends Brett & Cara. We flew into Denver on January 6 and headed for Edwards in Vail Valley. The boys did quite the packing job with our little Chevy HHR. Bobby's Uncle Hunt lives in Edwards with his lovely wife Vicki and we were excited to spend a couple of days with them.
Friday we were up early and ready for the slopes. The boys went on the first run with us and tried to teach Cara and I to "carve" with little success. We then told them to head out and Cara and I stuck to the bunny slopes, aka "Little Buckaroo." In the afternoon Cara and I met the boys at the Ritz for some apres snow drinks. It was so much fun!

 Saturday, Brett's brother Ben hooked us up with snowmobiling! I was a little nervous but it ended up being a blast. They first had us get used to the snow mobiles and then let us run wild in a field of snow. After that we headed deeper into the Colorado wilderness back to a ranch where our guide had hot chocolate waiting for us.

Sunday it was snowing, but the boys were ready for it. Cara and I decided to spend our morning watching the snow with hot cups of coffee. We then ventured out into the 20 degree weather for some shopping. By 2 o'clock the boys were done and Ben once again hooked us up with spa treatments at Allegria Spa. I forget what it was called and I couldn't find it on the website, but basically you go through 4 "aqua" treatments. After being sufficiently relaxed we got ready for our dinner at 8100. We walked in and were seated at the Chef's table by the restaurant manager, a friend of Brett & Ben. We then had the best meal of our lives!! Starting with champagne, appetizers, wine, filet mignon, more wine, sides, more wine, desserts, wine, and espresso martinis to end it all. We then waddled back to our room at the Park Hyatt.

Just for funsies

On Monday our vacation came to an end. Thank goodness!! It was a blast but also -2 degrees as we were leaving, I was ready for balmy 68 degrees in California. So I will definitely never live in Colorado by choice, but after a trip like that, I could get used to visiting every year!
